RACE COMMENT
Placed in both return runs, the efforts from GUS (12) have been super in defeat. Unable to secure position under mobile conditions last week from wide off the front line, he sat rearward before finishing smartly. The 30m is a concern, but he looks ready to strike. BANFF (1) is hitting some good areas and lines up with wins at two of his past three starts. Buried from a 20m impost last start, he had the closing speed to reel them in and land a narrow margin. With the front tape benefits, he has the manners to be in the striking position. GET USED TO IT (8) was the best of the chasing pack last start when runner-up to the dictating LOVE GUN. Faced with a 10m tape in that contest, he has podium claims once again. MASTERLY (10) settled in the 1x1 trail last week but was unable to get into the contest in the closing stages. Placed in his first two outings on this track, he can be sharper here.
