RACE COMMENT
Another unexpected bonus this week with LEAP TO FAME (11) backing up from his return to the track last week to tackle this standing start event from a 30m tape. A winner at his only previous attempt from this start method, he covered them easily in much tougher company. Despite the impost, the Hall of Famer should be far too strong and continue his winning ways. IN EXCESS (1) has landed the inside second line gate at his past three starts, the latest when grabbing the silver. He faces a rise in grade for his first look at the tapes, yet as the lone runner off the front, he will get his chance to find a great position and exploiting the advantage can grab a podium. TARGARYEN (4) scored at Redcliffe in a new track record for the 2280 stand two starts back and then last week was unable to get warm in the closing stages. Settling closer will aid his hopes. MOSSDALE TERRY (10) stepped cleanly off the front-line last week to lead throughout and claim a second win for the season. Back to 20m makes the repeat a much tougher ask.
